Glamour’s focus merged perfectly with Lara’s passions which inevitably led to her interest in the science of food and nutrition, and their impact on health and well-being.
After three exciting years at Glamour, Lara was ready to further her education in order to accommodate her broadening interest in health. Lara enrolled at New York University where she completed her coursework and internship to earn her Masters Degree in clinical nutrition and her license as a Registered Dietitian.
Once credentialed, Lara accepted a position at Long Island College Hospital where she counseled pregnant women, patients with diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, and people seeking weight loss. Following this experience, she was offered the opportunity to initiate and develop a nutrition program for The Sports Club/LA, a prestigious “urban country club” on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Lara became very successful at the club by providing individual nutrition counseling, as well as lecturing on a variety of topics in nutrition, and developing healthier menu options for café SiXTYONE. During this time, Lara also developed a loyal following of private clients in Manhattan through her practice, LSM Nutrition.
